Mama Bear with Cold Brew Concentrate
This recipe yields one serving, but you can easily scale it up!
Ingredients:
-
For the Cold Brew Concentrate:
-
Tip: A ratio of 1:4 (1 part coffee, 4 parts water) is suggested to make the Cold Brew concentrate.
-
1/2 cup coarsely ground coffee beans (we love Motherland and BCL for this recipe!)
-
2 cups cold, filtered water
-
For the Honey Cinnamon Syrup:
-
1/2 cup honey
-
1/2 cup water
-
3 sticks of cinnamon (4 if you really like cinnamon!)
-
Pinch of salt (optional, but enhances flavor)
-
For the Mama Bear Cold Brew:
-
4-6 ounces cold brew concentrate (adjust to your preference)
-
1-2 tablespoons honey cinnamon syrup (adjust to your sweetness preference)
-
Ground cinnamon, for garnish
-
For the Cold Foam
-
4-6oz of cold creamer (half & half or oat/almond milk creamer)
-
1/2 teaspoon of honey cinnamon syrup (optional)
Instructions:
Make the Cold Brew Concentrate (Prep the night before!):
-
Combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold water in a jar or French press.
-
Stir gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated.
-
Cover and let it steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12-18 hours. The longer it steeps, the stronger the concentrate will be.
-
Once steeped, strain the coffee concentrate through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter to remove all the grounds.
-
Store the cold brew concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Make the Honey Cinnamon Syrup:
-
In a small saucepan, combine the honey, water, ground cinnamon, and salt (if using).
-
Heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the honey is dissolved and the syrup is smooth. Do not boil.
-
Remove from the heat and let it cool completely. You can store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Assemble the Mama Bear Cold Brew:
-
Pour the desired amount of cold brew concentrate into a glass.
-
Stir in the honey cinnamon syrup to your liking.
-
In a separate chilled bowl or using a milk frother, vigorously whisk your cold milk or plant-based creamer until it thickens and becomes a smooth, velvety cold foam. You can also achieve this by shaking the milk/creamer in a tightly sealed jar until foamy.
-
Gently spoon the cold foam over the cold brew.
-
Dust the top of the cold foam with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
-
Serve immediately and enjoy this lovingly crafted "Mama Bear" cold brew!
Dairy-Free Option: Simply use your favorite plant-based milk or creamer for the cold foam. Oat milk and barista-blend almond milk tend to froth particularly well.
