A Coffee Story Rooted in the Heart of the Congo

Our Congo Limited Release is more than just a cup of coffee—it's a story of resilience, hope, and support for communities in one of the world's most conflicted regions. Sourced from the South Kivu territory, this single-origin coffee is produced by smallholder farmers who work with Cafe Kivu, an organization dedicated to providing logistical support to independent farmers.

Cafe Kivu, founded by Aime Byamungu, bridges the gap for producers who are not part of cooperatives, offering services such as warehousing, milling, and transportation. This partnership allows farmers to focus on cultivating high-quality coffee while Cafe Kivu handles the complexities of bringing their coffee to market.

Recently, Cafe Kivu completed the construction of a state-of-the-art mill in Goma, the largest city in the region and a critical hub for coffee export. This mill not only serves the producers working with Cafe Kivu but also stands as a shared resource for other farmers and cooperatives in the area.

A Humble, Heartfelt Commitment to Aid

In launching this special release, we are committed to more than just showcasing the incredible flavors of Congolese coffee. We are dedicating 100% of the profits from this release to supporting Sickle Cell Aid and Research in the Congo, specifically through our partnership with Centre Hospitalier Anemique Ss Saint Crispin. The ongoing conflicts in the region have led to widespread suffering, exacerbating health crises, including the spread of diseases like monkeypox and the challenges of managing sickle cell disease. This collaboration is a step toward supporting those who need it most, in a region that has given so much to the world despite its struggles.

As you savor the rich flavors of this coffee, know that you are also contributing to a cause that brings hope and aid to the Congo. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.

Congolese Limited Release

The Congolese limited edition fell short of my expectations. I was first surprise by the very dry faded look of the beans and the less than aromatic fragrance I usually get from your coffee upon openingthe package thevery first time. After brewing a pot I found the coffee to be flat with no particular flavor notes standing out at all. I though maybe they forgot to roast the beans to bring up the oils which release the wonderful flavonoid a good coffee will release upon brewing. All in all, 1 star (only because zero is not an option) for me for Congolese Limited Edition.
