Red Bay Coffee is a Black-owned specialty coffee roaster founded in Oakland, California. Keba Konte started Red Bay in 2014 in a converted garden shed in the Fruitvale district, a space he calls the Coffee Dojo. We roast direct-trade coffee sourced from Sweet Unity Farms in Tanzania (founded by David Robinson, son of Jackie Robinson), CENCOIC in Colombia, and smallholder cooperatives across Latin America and Africa. Our five Bay Area cafes serve the community daily: the Grand Ave Cafe in Grand Lake, the Berkeley cafe on Alcatraz Ave, the cafe inside our Roastery in Fruitvale, the cafe inside the Ferry Building and the cafe at 220 Montgomery St. both in San Francisco. We ship whole-bean and ground coffee nationwide, so no matter where you are, you can support Black-owned coffee that pays farmers fairly, employs people who have been left out of this industry, and tastes like it was made with intention. Red Bay is a multiple-time medalist at the Golden Bean North America roaster competition and a flagship of the fourth wave of coffee, a movement that puts equity, inclusion, and community at the center of every cup.
